Seeing to Believe?

Here is a simple test that illustrates the fallacy of the statement ‘Seeing is Believing’. Below is a short clip that I had taken and its a figure of a pink dot going round and round. This is true if your eyes follow the moving pink dot. If you keep your focus on the center ‘cross’ you will noticed that the pink dot turns green!
If you stare at the centre for a longer time, the pink dots slowly disappear, leaving only one green dot going round and round!
It’s amazing how our brain works. There really is no green dot, and the pink ones really don’t disappear. This should be proof enough, we don’t always see what we think we see.
This illustration reminds me of our views in so many issues in life. It depends on our focus and when we stay stubborn and keep looking at an issue in one way, how it lies to us? I guess we must view things, issues in a broader sense and slowly we begin to see other views and make us more understanding people and keep us away from being a bigot. Perhaps it is worthwhile to ponder on such things over the week-end! Cheers!
